About SuppScore®
Developed by qualified nutritional therapists. Guided by an independent Advisory Board. Built for everyone.
What is SuppScore®?
SuppScore®is an evidence-based rating system that analyses any food or dietary supplement's ingredient quality, dosages, and value for money in seconds. It has been developed by qualified, experienced nutritional therapists for both healthcare professionals and consumers, and is guided by an independent Advisory Board.
Who we are
Decades of research, distilled into seconds
SuppScore was created by qualified, experienced nutritional therapists who have spent decades reading the research and studying the peer-reviewed science behind supplement ingredients. That expertise is distilled into the platform and reviewed by our Advisory Board — so anyone, practitioner or consumer, can tap into specialist knowledge to assess a supplement in seconds rather than spending hours interpreting studies.

Our approach
We focus only on the scientific evidence
Marketing claims make it hard to tell whether a supplement is any good. SuppScore® cuts through this by assessing only the scientific evidence. It is designed to answer the questions people actually ask about their supplements:
- 1Is my supplement any good?
- 2Will this supplement work?
- 3How do its ingredients actually work?
- 4Am I overpaying for my supplement?
- 5Should I be concerned about the additives it contains?
For any supplement, SuppScore® summarises how the ingredients work; rates them from Great to Bad; and explains their key benefits and what the scientific research says — powered by our Ingredient Directory.

The method
How the SuppScore® rating works
Every supplement is the sum of its ingredients, the ingredient form(s), and the ingredient dosage(s). SuppScore® scores each of these factors using scientific evidence and combines them into a single, comparable number. A product receives a SuppScore® when both its ingredient forms and dosages are available.
Factors
How it is scored
Each ingredient form is given a multiplier from 0.85 (poorest quality) up to 1.5 (highest quality).
Penalised with a negative score ranging from -0.1 to -0.5 per unnecessary additive.
Rated from 1 to 5, where 1 is a non-meaningful dose and 5 is a practitioner-grade, therapeutic dose.
The combined total of the above three factors is the supplement's SuppScore®.
The method
Removing the subjectivity
Because the scoring is anchored to published scientific evidence rather than opinion, SuppScore removes the subjectivity from supplement choice.
A higher score does not automatically mean a supplement is better: a 20-ingredient multivitamin serving several purposes may score higher than a focused single-ingredient product. SuppScore® is designed to compare products that claim a similar health benefit.
SuppScore is best used to compare like-for-like — multivitamins with multivitamins, magnesium with magnesium. This gives you the most meaningful, accurate comparison of quality and value.

Value for money
No hiding place for overpriced supplements
With SuppScore®there is no hiding place for overpriced, under-dosed, or simply poor-quality supplements. A product's SuppScore® makes it easy to compare a supplement against another claiming a similar health benefit and to judge whether it offers genuine quality, benefit, and value for money.

FAQ
Common questions
You upload a photo of a label or barcode, paste a URL, or paste an ingredients list. Our AI technology extracts every ingredient, then cross-references it against our evidence-based database to assign individual ratings, an overall SuppScore (ingredient form(s) x ingredient dosage(s) = SuppScore), and a value for money score.
